Is It Keto? Instant Food Checker

Type a food. Get the verdict, the net carbs in a normal portion, and the share of a strict keto day.

Updated By the Ketora editorial teamHow we write

How do I know if a food is keto? Check its net carbs (total carbs minus fibre) in the portion you actually eat. Under about 2 g per serving fits any keto day easily; over about 6 g uses a large share of a strict 20 g day.

How the verdict works

Each food is checked at a typical serving, not per 100 g, because nobody eats 100 g of butter or a single gram of rice. The net carbs in that serving are compared with a strict keto day of 20 g net carbs:

VerdictShare of a 20 g day
Keto-friendlyUnder 10% (under 2 g)
In moderation10–30% (2–6 g)
Not keto-friendlyOver 30% (over 6 g)

Net carbs are total carbohydrate minus fibre, from USDA FoodData Central. On a looser 50 g low-carb plan, many "moderation" foods fit comfortably.

Not necessarily. Starch counts too — bread, rice and potatoes are low in sugar but high in net carbs.
