Keto Desserts: 10 Recipes Under 8 g Net Carbs, and How to Sweeten Them

Dessert fits keto when the sweetener does not count and the portion is measured. These are the ones worth making.

Updated By the Ketora editorial teamHow we write

Short answer: Desserts made with almond flour, cream, cream cheese, eggs, dark chocolate (85%+) and a non-counting sweetener such as erythritol or allulose — for example keto cheesecake, lemon bars, chocolate mousse, chia pudding or no-churn ice cream. Most come in at 2–8 g net carbs per serving.

Ten keto desserts, ranked by net carbs

Net carbs are per serving, calculated from USDA data for the listed ingredients. Sweeteners like erythritol and allulose are not counted.

Which sweeteners work

  • Erythritol: no net carbs and good for baking. Some people notice a cooling aftertaste, and large amounts can upset digestion.
  • Allulose: no net carbs, browns like sugar and keeps ice cream and cookies soft. Lower the oven temperature by about 10 °C because it browns quickly.
  • Stevia and monk fruit: very concentrated, so they are often blended with erythritol to add bulk.
  • Avoid maltitol. It is common in "sugar-free" chocolate and raises blood sugar much more than other sugar alcohols.

Keep dessert from stalling progress

  1. Portion first. Keto desserts are calorie-dense. A slice of cheesecake is about 400 kcal, mostly fat.
  2. Don't make it daily in the first month. Sweet tastes keep cravings alive for some people.
  3. Count the whole portion, including toppings like berries or chocolate. Chocolate should be 85% or higher.
  4. Log it. In the Ketora app, each of these recipes can be logged in one tap from the recipe library.

Frequently asked questions

What desserts can you eat on keto?

Desserts made with almond flour, cream, cream cheese, eggs, dark chocolate (85%+) and a non-counting sweetener such as erythritol or allulose — for example keto cheesecake, lemon bars, chocolate mousse, chia pudding or no-churn ice cream. Most come in at 2–8 g net carbs per serving.

What is the best sweetener for keto desserts?

Allulose and erythritol are the most widely used because they do not count as net carbs. Allulose behaves most like sugar in baking and keeps frozen desserts soft; erythritol is cheaper but can taste cooling.
