20 Keto Lunch Ideas: Packable, Work-Friendly and No-Cook
Lunch is the meal that breaks most keto plans, usually because it gets bought in a hurry. Plan it once a week and it stops being a problem.
Short answer: Meat, fish or eggs with low-carb vegetables and a fat source — for example a Cobb salad, tuna salad in lettuce cups, a burger bowl, or leftovers from a keto dinner. Most land between 2 and 7 g net carbs.
Make ahead on Sunday
Cook once and portion it into four or five boxes. Net carbs are per serving, calculated from USDA data in each recipe.
| Lunch | Net carbs |
|---|---|
| Cheeseburger casserole | 3 g |
| Crustless quiche (one slice) | 3 g |
| Beef chili | 7 g |
| Chicken tikka with cauliflower rice | 5 g + rice |
| Egg roll in a bowl | 7 g |
| Egg muffins (three) | 3 g |
Packed for work (no microwave needed)
| Lunch | Net carbs |
|---|---|
| Cobb salad, dressing in a separate pot | 4 g |
| Tuna salad in lettuce cups | 3 g |
| Burger bowl | 6 g |
| Chicken quesadilla (eats well cold) | 5 g |
| Lettuce-wrap "sandwich": turkey, cheddar, mayonnaise, tomato | 2–3 g |
| Cold salmon, cucumber and cream cheese | 2 g |
No-cook, five minutes
- Rotisserie chicken thighs, half an avocado and a handful of olives (about 3 g)
- Canned sardines or mackerel on rocket with olive oil and lemon (about 1 g)
- Two hard-boiled eggs, cheddar, cucumber and a few almonds (about 4 g)
- Greek yogurt bowl with walnuts and raspberries (about 7 g). Better as a light lunch, because protein is modest.
- A deli plate: salami, prosciutto, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and pickles (3–5 g; check the pickles for sugar)
Eating out
- Burger places: a lettuce-wrapped burger with cheese and bacon, side salad. Skip the sauces, which often contain sugar.
- Mexican: a burrito bowl with no rice or beans: meat, cheese, lettuce, salsa, sour cream and guacamole.
- Sandwich shops: most will make a salad from sandwich fillings.
- Indian or Pakistani: tandoori chicken or seekh kebab with salad and raita; skip naan and rice. See the desi keto plan.

Make lunch keep you full until dinner
- Protein first. Aim for 30–40 g at lunch, which means a palm-and-a-half of meat or fish, or four eggs. Low-protein lunches are the main cause of 4 pm snacking.
- Add fibre from vegetables, not just cheese and meat. Leafy greens, cucumber, peppers and cauliflower add volume for very few carbs.
- Watch the extras. Dressings, sauces and "keto" bars are where hidden carbs come from. Read the label for the portion you actually use.
- Plan it. Pick lunches for the week when you plan dinners, so the shopping list covers both. Ketora builds the shopping list from your weekly plan.
