Keto Shopping List for Beginners (Organised by Aisle)
Shop by aisle, buy fewer "keto" products, and you will spend less while eating better.
Short answer: Eggs, a fatty cut of meat, fish, butter or olive oil, leafy greens, two or three low-carb vegetables, avocado, cheese and one nut or seed. That covers most first-week meals.
Free, no sign-up. Ketora can also build a plan around your own macros.
Produce
- Leafy greens: lettuce, kale, spinach (rotate — spinach is high in oxalate)
- Low-carb vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, cucumber, mushrooms, asparagus, cabbage, bell peppers
- Avocados, lemons, limes
- Berries in small amounts: raspberries, blackberries, strawberries
- Garlic, ginger, fresh herbs
Meat and fish counter

- Ground beef 80/20, chicken thighs with skin, pork shoulder
- Salmon, sardines, mackerel — canned is fine

Dairy
- Butter, heavy cream, cream cheese
- Hard cheeses such as cheddar and parmesan, plus sour cream
- Plain full-fat Greek yogurt (measured portions)
Pantry
- Olive oil, coconut oil, ghee or lard
- Nuts and seeds: pecans, macadamias, pumpkin seeds, chia, flax
- Canned tomatoes or passata with no added sugar
- Canned tuna and full-fat coconut milk
- Unsweetened almond milk if you want a milk swap

What to skip
Bread, pasta, rice, cereal, potatoes, juice, regular soda, most fruit, low-fat flavoured yogurt, and "low-fat" products where sugar replaces fat.
Label traps
- "No added sugar" does not mean low carb (fruit purées count).
- Maltitol in "sugar-free" sweets affects blood sugar.
- Sauces and dressings often hide several grams of sugar per spoon.
- "Keto" bread varies widely — see keto bread labels decoded.
Ketora builds a weekly shopping list from your chosen foods and macros, with grams per item, so you buy what the menu actually needs.
